Mini-build: Cauterizer

Cautery Signet
Remedy Signet

Use Cautery Signet to clear the entire party of conditions, then use Remedy Signet to get rid of burning. Unlike with the monk skill Martyr, you only suffer a single condition, so any condition removal skill will be effective. If you are using Martyr, you need a skill that will remove all conditions for you in order to minimise risk to yourself.

I notice that no one has yet to put a build in here. Is it time for Anet to take notice and make the Paragon more useful in general PvE......personally i thought a char attacking with a spear would have a range almost like a Ranger but ,no, BAD Anet, the paragon is right within AOE range when attacking. Post your complaints here (if any1 actually cares). BAD Anet.

Can't help thinking with the Paragon, they were beginning to run out of ideas.

I would like to see them take a break from the '2 new professions' update and concentrate on introducing some new gameplay... but I'm sure they won't

I'll send a pic of my Paragon build - it's got me through NF, but I don't think it's particularly strong in any area.

Hmm... I have a couple of builds. My favourite at the moment is a Paragon/Warrior one. It's basically a combination of combat capability + damage reduction with effective energy management.

Spear Mastery: 13 // Command: 10 // Leadership: 12 // Tactics: 8

Spear Of Lighting
Holy Spear (for those damn spirits!)
Vicious Spear
'Go For The Eyes'
'Watch Yourself'
'There's Nothing To Fear'
Focused Anger
Signet of Return

The Focused Anger (combined with an adrenaline boosting spear) allows you to spam 'Go For The Eyes' and 'Watch Yourself' and the Leadership attribute allows you to gain a decent amount of energy for each - thereby allowing 'There's Nothing To Fear' to be used continually as well as the Spear skills.

The first 2 I change depending in the mission but they usually stay as Spear skills. Occasionally, I'll change the Signet of Return for 'We Shall Return' but then I find I rely too heavily on the monks.

Please note that runes have been used to increase stats.

obviousely people are under estimating the paragon

Anet needs to do nothing, ppl just need to think more.

What do you want you paragon to be? In pve roles are more perciffic, as would a apragon in gvg.

However for general ab pvp, a good mix of spear and defensive skills does the job.

I hope no one takes this offensively, but now is the time to stop relying on the wiki builds. Your better than that Very Happy

That looks like a pretty solid build, Kil. Shame that they raped "Watch yourself" though. I never got into playing paragon, I tried it for a few levels and decided it's not what I want to do, and returned to my ranger Smile

For me, I've found that my definition of a Paragon is somewhat similar to the GW definition of it in that it truly is a support character. Although the armour base is quite high, it's not really an effective choice for combat.

The team is vital to the Paragon. If the rest of the group is taken down, it's not going to last very long (true for pretty much everyone, I know, but hear me out Razz ). In order to gain the most effectivness, it needs other people. So it sucks when it's 1v1 (read the discussion for 'Cold As Ice') but it's nigh invincible when with other people (and used correctly Wink ). If nothing else, it's great for *cough* strategically retreating then returning to ressurect 1 by 1 and gain power again. Lets face it. Ressurection Shrines can be a pain in the 'bum' sometimes.

If I was going to give it any definition, I'd give a 'Jack of all trades' one. Mainly because I've tried most of the other ones and after playing the Paragon, it's not that much of a effort to learn how to play a Ranger or Warrior or anything else, though that could also be from playing the game for so long. It's almost as if Anet has just bundled all the other capabilities of the other classes into one.

i think its sad that people dont give the paragons melee skills credit.

It is true that Paragons are support mainly, having 3 attributes dedicated to it. However, the spear is not to be under estimated, especially when buffed via a 2nd profession.

Also, have u ever considered using perhaps an Axe or sword? Very Happy

Truth be told, not really. I quite like the idea of having a (relatively) high damaging weapon hurting someone from afar Wink

The melee skills aren't too bad but I never really use them because I never intend on being that close to my enemy. Of course, that never really works out as often as I'd like, lol.

Though saying that, you've just given me an idea to defeat that bloody Gracial Griffon in Sifhalla. Been trying to get past that quest for weeks now. I almost defeat it once with the Ritualist Bison Tornament build but the bloody thing just keeps spamming spirits whereas I can only have 1 of each type - Most unfair! The Necromancer build I don't really have the energy recharge for and there's no-one around for me to take advantage of the Leadership attribute. Tried the Mesmer build as well and I've got him to just under half health - then I died. Only one I haven't tried is the Ranger build and that's because I don't have a Longbow...yet.
